SAVE YOUR SPOT AT HEARTLAND

VOLUNTEERING AT HEARTLAND

To be a volunteer at Heartland 2024 requires only 12 hours of work. At Salsa Peaks, this can be accomplished either through two 6-hour shifts or a single 12-hour shift. This arrangement allows all volunteers plenty of time to also experience the festival.

  • Total number of hours: 12 hours

  • Split of shifts: 2x6 hours or 12 hours.

  • Thursday-Saturday 13th-15th of June

  • Goods: Welcome bubbles on the first shift plus food, beverage and coffee when you work.

HEARTLANd festival program

As always, guests and volunteers at Heartland receive a comprehensive program that includes everything from major international musical artists and up-and-coming Danish musicians to art, talks, and long table dinners. As a small guide for our volunteers, we’ve put together a list of some of the many possibilities, so everyone is a little bit prepared before arriving at the festival.

The biggest international names in 2024 include Keane, Rick Astley, and Kasabian. Keane made a significant breakthrough in the 2000s with hits like “Somewhere Only We Know,” “Everybody’s Changing,” and “This Is The Last Time,” and has since toured in over 40 countries worldwide.

Rick Astley has an even longer career, starting in the mid-80s. After being more or less forgotten in the new millennium, he suddenly re-entered the charts in 2016 and has since managed to stay on top for many years.

This means that his repertoire today contains everything from the big 80s hits to more contemporary numbers and a string of cover songs, which Rick Astley has also managed to release among all his own. This could very well be the concert of the year at Heartland.

The British rock band Kasabian may not come with big hits from the 80s, but probably with the festival’s most energetic concert. They have been praised several times for their live performances, and what better than to show up to a live concert with a band that manages to get their music and energy beyond the edge of the stage.

Among Danish artists, it is almost superfluous to mention Medina. After a couple of years away from the big festivals, Medina is ready again, and 2024 will be the year for her first performance at Heartland. Since we are in Funen, it makes sense to stop by Folkeklubben’s concert. The group from Odense has over the years accumulated several Danish hits, which will surely provide a popular concert with plenty of edge from the “Club’s” beautiful lyrical universe.

Danish Blæst with frontwoman Fernanda Rosa is hard to ignore these years. The huge hit “Juice” has been sung and played countless times across the country in the last few years. Together with their other catchy tunes, this could very well be a concert that gets everyone involved.

From a former up-and-coming band to an artist still on the rise, we move on to Danish August Høyen. Over the past few years, August has quietly established himself on the Danish music scene, and with his debut EP in 2023, he is now truly on his way. All guests and volunteers should support August and his Heartland concert, as he could very well be the man of the future for many, many years to come.

As always, art plays a major role at Heartland. Worth mentioning are the Danish-Vietnamese artist Danh Vo, the Danish artist Tove Storch, and the experienced artist Jessie Kleemann, who all create audience-engaging works at Heartland 2024. Sometimes art needs to be experienced, seen, absorbed. Other times, you are directly involved, which these three artists all live up to.

If there’s something Heartland is known for, it’s especially their many Talks, and Heartland version 2024 is no exception. The list of Talks is overflowing with well-known names, and the biggest challenge is finding time for it all when you also want to enjoy delicious nachos from Salsa Peaks.

However, some Talks stand out more than others. These include Casper Christensen & Svend Brinkmann on standing firm or being in constant development. Mathilde Walter Clark & Emma Holten on systemic criticism and challenging conventional thinking. Daniel Rye & Kathrine Lilleør on seeking answers to life’s big questions, and Jørgen Leth & Christina Hagen on the loss of innocence and the search for wildness. Just to name a few.

No matter which Talks you choose, you’re sure to have your brain cells challenged and be entertained at the same time.

A setup like Heartland wouldn’t be possible without the many volunteers who make everything come together, whether they’re fence guards, in the food booths, or something entirely different.

Working as a volunteer at Salsa Peaks is naturally fun in itself, but with Heartland’s impressive program, it makes it even more enjoyable to be a volunteer when you also have time off.

We look forward to seeing you/you all.
